Pastor's Devotion for a week beginning January 20, 2017

Pastor Rick’s final devotion for Zion Lutheran Church, 1/20/17

Ecclesiastes 3: 1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. (KJV)

It’s time.

It’s time to try something new.

I enjoy penning these devotions, and maybe someday I’ll pick it up again.

But it’s time.

Retirement from parish ministry is February 28.

Still going to be working, close to the church.

Thank you for reading these lines over the years.

Just a couple of thoughts as we make this transition:

We have a new president for whom we need to pray, like him or not.

We have a changing church, which if it doesn’t keep up, will lose its credibility (I mean CHURCH, not any particular one).

We have a changing culture, but I am not sure how different it really is sometimes, read the Bible and you can see what I mean.

The good news is, we have an unchanging God, who loves us no matter what.

A God of grace, loving us when we don’t deserve it.

A God of mercy, not condemning us when we deserve it.

That NEVER changes.

Time goes on.

It’s time for a change.

That’s not all bad.

And thank God for the one thing that never changes.

Thank you for these opportunities to share the same, Jesus, the Christ.

God bless your journey!

Lord, thank you for being our rock.  Amen
