Pastor's Devotion for a week beginning January 11, 2017

I Corinthians 1: 9God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

We like to talk about our faithfulness.

We think we are faithful to God.

And we are.

But it is only because God is faithful to us.

“Great is Thy Faithfulness” the song goes.

In that,  we are reminded that our faith does not save us.

Jesus does.

He is faithful.

Even to death.

He never wavers in his mission.

He never pulls back in his love.

He is the faithful one.

And so we, out of gratitude, remain faithful.

We do what disciples do.

We remain faithful.

We strive to serve.

We worship with thanks.

We love without condition or blinders.

I don’t know about you, but I am relieved that my life in heaven is not based on my faithfulness.

My life has not been exemplary or honorable.

But the God that has shown faithfulness through me is.

And I think we are obliged to do our best to show that faithfulness.

That’s WDD (what disciples do)

Lord, thank you for being faithful to us.  Amen
